When it's not your turn yet

When It’s Not Your Turn (Yet)

When It’s Not Your Turn (Yet)

Let’s be real for a second – celebrating someone else’s success when you’re still waiting on your own? That’s not always easy.

Maybe you worked just as hard. Maybe you were hoping for the same opportunity. Maybe you feel like you’re constantly overlooked while they’re out there shining. Maybe you’re still wondering when it will finally be your turn.

I’ve felt that. And if you’re honest, I bet you have too.

But here’s the truth I’ve had to remind myself of over and over again: someone else’s win doesn’t equal your loss.

When we let jealousy take root, it doesn’t just hurt our ability to celebrate others – it actually delays our own growth. It clouds our thinking, weighs down our energy, and keeps us stuck in comparison instead of moving forward with clarity.

And worst of all? It keeps us from being the kind of people others want to cheer for, work with, and grow alongside.

People deserve to be celebrated when they do incredible things – even when (especially when) they’ve done it better than we have. That doesn’t take away from your talent, your effort, or your future. Their success doesn’t mean you’re behind – it just means they’re in their moment. Yours is still coming.

Cheering for someone else is a discipline. It’s a choice. It’s a reflection of our character more than our feelings. And when we can learn to clap even when it stings a little? That’s growth.

So don’t let bitterness build a wall between you and the people you were meant to be in community with. Choose celebration. Choose humility. Choose to be the kind of person who claps – even when it’s hard – because you know your time is coming too.
