Welcome to the new site!
In my effort to recognize the amazing members of my staff, I’ve dropped the ball the last few weeks….so now, it’s BACK! And this week is a great one. This week I’d like to introduce you to one of my rockstar 4th grade teacher, Allison Boswell. Allie is one of those teachers who surprises me…
Music is another passion of mine. At one point in my life I even thought about becoming a radio DJ, haha! While driving in the car yesterday I heard a song that had a line that really stuck out to me. The verse said “I don’t mind, I would still come back 1,000 times. Push…
I try not to watch the news too often, but I quickly find myself drawn in. I’m a very empathetic person and quickly associate myself deeply with others’ pain. Because of that I’ve had to carefully maneuver through what I watch on the news or read online. As I watch terrible things happening across our…
About 3 weeks ago, I attended one of the best conferences I’ve ever been to, Miami Device. While presenting at the conference I had seen a Swivl robot set up in one of the rooms and was in awe by how tiny it was and what it could do. Little did I know, just a…
This past week I got to do something that I’ve always wanted to do as a teacher but never did, for whatever reason. I work in a district where over 85% of our students are on a free and reduced lunch. I work with kids who come from all types of backgrounds with all types…
This week was a doozy for me. This week was the first time I began to feel like there was far more I was doing wrong, then was doing right. I know I’m a new administrator. I know I have a lot to learn. I know I’m going to make mistakes. Those are things that…
I did a list like this about a year ago, and I thought it was a great time to do another! Listed below are 13 people I learn from quite often, that many of my blog readers probably haven’t heard about! So I’ve decided to introduce you to them, so that you can learn from…
I’m not quite sure how to even put into words what an experience like #MiamiDevice was. I was contacted a little over a year ago, by Felix Jacomino, to ask me if I would consider being a featured presenter at a brand new conference coming up. When he told me it was in Miami, I…
In a continued effort to bring families into what we’re trying to do here at Navasota Intermediate, we came up with the idea to have a Family Game Night. I had done something like this at my previous school. We partnered with a local teacher supply store, name Jacques. Jacques brought out about 30 different…
Today I wanted to introduce you to another member of my team, Rosalia Mendez. Rosalia is our school secretary, attendance clerk, and registrar. Yes, she does it all. If you’ve been in education for any length of time, you know that the front desk and the secretary are the ones who run the school. Let…
Well we’re here again. Another opportunity for me to recognize and introduce you to a member of my staff. Today it’s one of my classroom teachers! It’s 4th grade teacher Jessica McHale, also known as The Dazzling Twister. I still remember when Jessica came in to interview for her position. She had never taught elementary…
I’ve thought long and hard about this post. What I wanted to say. How I wanted to say it. Bullying is something we hear about all the time as adults; especially in education. And as we all know too well, bullying is something that didn’t just start recently. I remember getting picked on quite a…
